Sunday’s are often a day where I shop at the store and buy fresh fruit. My family loves to eat cherries with a few chocolate chips on the side. It’s a decent healthy snack. So when cherries are in season, I will buy them. I used to dread it in the past because I was manually pitting the cherries with either a knife or straw method.

In the end my hands were covered in cherry juice and it looked like part of a horror scene. And I would buy less and less cherries and deny my family the sweet, juicy goodness because of the hour long prep time!

But first I am going to run through a few items that get me through the prep. These things won’t change because clean fruit is best!

Number 1: A great Christmas gift I got last year were these collapsible colanders. There are multiple sizes to choose from in the set. They also come with a sink side dish to drain into without having to place the colander in the sink. All of the water flushed down and you don’t get any cross contamination or germs back on your washed fruit.

I like to wash my fruit – minus berries – with Fit to remove pesticides, germs, and all the yuck! It’s organic and you can reuse the spray bottle and buy the larger refill to reduce waste. Plus you get a lot for the money and can refill your bottle over and over before replacing the spray bottle.

After the cherries get a bath, they get rinsed in the colander. The medium one worked great to rinse my cherries and dry a bit.

Let’s fill this sad lonely container!

Fresh cherries coming soon and quicker than before. I introduce to you the perfect cherry pitter. It now saves me about 45 minutes in prep and my hands are no longer stained for days. I of course found my savior on Amazon. You too can become the hero in your family and buy one using my affiliate link. Along with a few other great items.

And take your blow from empty to full! I used the Pyrex 6 Cup rectangular storage container. It’s over half full of deliciousness ready for snacking.

Happy picking! And best of all, happy eating.
